In the 1970s, the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic was among the top summer attractions in the Milwaukee area, drawing superstar athletes, A-list celebrities and thousands of spectators to North Hills Country Club.
Galleries crowded around tees and greens and spilled down the fairways to watch the hapless golf of President Gerald Ford, laugh at Bob Hope's jokes and rub elbows with the likes of Al McGuire, Ray Nitschke, Alan Shepard, George C. Scott and Charlie Pride.
Today, the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic remains steadfast in the Milwaukee community and most importantly, remains committed to the cause of defeating cancer in the true Lombardi spirit of excellence.
