WAYS TO GIVE
In 1971, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation (VLCF) was created to honor the legacy of legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi, whose life was cut short by colon cancer. In the 55 years since, over $25 million has been raised to advance our mission to prevent cancer, provide superior patient care, and find a cure. No amount is too small - it is only with your support that we can continue to fund advancements in cancer research and treatment.
The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 23-7120909, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. For more information or with questions, please contact info@lombardifoundation.org or 262.696.5162.
New in 2026: starting this year, nearly all taxpayers—whether they itemize or not—can receive a federal tax benefit for charitable giving. Higher‑income donors should be aware of tighter deduction mechanics that reward thoughtful planning, such as bundled multi-year giving.
For those who do not itemize, this incentive is in addition to the standard deduction, which remains high - $16,100 for single filers and $32,200 for married filing jointly, with an additional $6,000 per person for those 65+. If you take the standard deduction:
You may deduct up to $1,000 in charitable gifts (individuals)
Or up to $2,000 (married couples filing jointly)
Applies to cash donations made directly to 501c3 nonprofit organizations like ours
Donations to donor‑advised funds (DAFs) and supporting organizations do not qualify.
If you itemize, charitable deductions apply to gifts exceeding 0.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI) in 2026. For example, if your AGI is $400,000, the first $2,000 of annual giving is not deductible. Consider a larger gift in 2026 or contact us about a multi‑year commitment to deepen long‑term impact while maximizing tax benefits.

Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70.5 or older, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), also known as IRA rollovers, are a simple way to make an impact. This age requirement applies regardless of whether you are taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), which currently begin at age 73. For many retirees, QCDs remain one of the most effective ways to give generously while managing taxes.
A QCD can be made annually following the year you turn 70.5.
Beneficiaries of inherited IRAs can make a QCD, provided they are at least 70½ years old.
For 2026, individuals can donate up to $111,000 per year (total from all IRAs), which is excluded from taxable income.
Unlike the RMD age, which has increased, the QCD eligibility age has remained 70½.
While you can make a QCD at 70½, they do not satisfy RMD requirements until you reach the age where RMDs are mandatory (currently 73).
If you would like to direct a QCD to VLCF, contact your financial advisor or email us with initial questions at info@lombardifoundation.org.
Donor-Advised Funds
The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation accepts donations from all Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs). DAFs through institutions like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, American Endowment Funds, local community foundations, and others allow you to contribute to a single fund while receiving an immediate tax deduction, providing easy ways to distribute donations to qualifying 501c3 organizations like the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.
